The venue

CHIJMES Lawns.

30 Victoria Street, in the Civic District. CHIJMES was the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus; its chapel, now CHIJMES Hall, and Caldwell House are National Monuments, and the lawns and terraces between them are hired out for events.

Good to know

Set-up and teardown follow CHIJMES' works hours: on weekdays, none 12–2pm or 6–11pm; on Saturdays and Sundays, only 4am–10am. For a Saturday or Sunday event we set up by 10am and clear from 4am the next morning. We check with CHIJMES whether your date needs a second day's hire, and any charge goes on your written quote
The live price uses the Friday–Sunday and public-holiday rate. Monday to Thursday costs less, and we quote it for your date
We put up tents on the Main Lawn for weddings, solemnisations and company events, and arrange the SCDF, URA and NHB approvals CHIJMES asks for, so tell us early. No tents are allowed on the Mini Lawn
The lawns are bare. Tables, chairs and any tent are hired in and added to your written quote; they are not in the live price
Any canvas must be white, grey or black, in one solid colour, and the backs of backdrops must be covered. Our décor team works to CHIJMES' house rules

There is no sound or lighting on the lawns. Power points are at the Main Lawn and the Terracotta; on the Mini Lawn, sound or lights may need a generator, which goes on your written quote

From our own halal-certified central kitchen

Indian menus. Buffet or served at the table.

South and North Indian, with vegetarian menus for every tier. Buffet from $10.90 a guest, or the Grand Royal gold dome tray served to every table from $35, for 150 guests or more.

Buffet includes the buffet line set-up, warmers and 2 service staff (one more for every 50 guests above 50). Grand Royal includes the full service crew, gold plates with banana leaf and metal cutlery. A tasting is arranged once your date is confirmed.

Can we hold our wedding or ROM on the lawns?

Yes. We hold weddings, ROMs, engagements and company events on the CHIJMES lawns, catered by our own kitchen. The Mini Lawn suits a solemnisation for about 50 seated guests; the Main Lawn takes about 150 seated, with a tent if you want one. We book your date with CHIJMES, lay out the space for your solemniser, then serve the meal.

Can you put up a tent?

Yes, on the Main Lawn, for a wedding, a solemnisation or a company event. We put it up and arrange the SCDF, URA and NHB approvals CHIJMES asks for, so tell us early. Tent hire is not in the live price; it goes on your written quote. No tents are allowed on the Mini Lawn.

What if it rains?

Choose the Main Lawn and we put up a tent, so your guests have cover if it rains. The Mini Lawn allows no tents and the Terracotta is an open terrace, so if the weather worries you, the Main Lawn is the safer choice.

When can you set up?

Monday to Friday, any time outside 12–2pm and 6–11pm. On Saturdays and Sundays CHIJMES allows works only between 4am and 10am, so for a weekend event we set up by 10am and clear from 4am the next morning. We check with CHIJMES whether that needs a second day's hire and put any charge on your written quote.

Is a homam allowed?

Ask us. We check any flame with CHIJMES for your date before you book.

Is the food halal?

Yes. Every menu comes from our own halal-certified kitchen, which caters on the CHIJMES lawns. Every tier also has a vegetarian version.

Can we use CHIJMES Hall instead?

No. CHIJMES Hall is run by a separate operator with its own wedding packages, so we plan on the lawns and the Terracotta only.

Is the price final?

It is built from CHIJMES' 2026 per-day rate for Friday to Sunday and public holidays, plus our own menu, décor and planning prices. Monday to Thursday costs less. Tables, chairs and any tent go on your written quote, and dates from 2027 are confirmed at CHIJMES' rate when you book.
