Why Choose Alangkaar for Indian Wedding Garlands in Singapore?

Our Own Flower Nursery — No Middlemen

Alangkaar operates its own flower nursery in Hanoi, Vietnam, giving us direct access to high-quality blooms at competitive prices. Combined with our local Singapore suppliers, we source the freshest roses, jasmine, orchids, marigolds, and carnations — all procured on the morning of your wedding for maximum vibrancy and fragrance.

Handcrafted by Experienced Florists

Our garland-making team has over 20 years of experience creating traditional South Indian maalai, North Indian varmala, and contemporary fusion garlands. Every garland is handwoven with precision, ensuring uniform flower placement, secure binding, and beautiful draping.

Made in Singapore — Not Imported

Many garland suppliers in Singapore import pre-made garlands from Malaysia or India. These often arrive wilted, discoloured, or lacking fragrance after hours in transit. Our garlands are made fresh in Singapore on the day of your wedding, packed in ice-lined styrofoam boxes, and delivered directly to your venue.

Cultural Significance of Indian Wedding Garlands

The exchange of garlands — known as Jaimala in North Indian weddings and Maalai Maatral in South Indian weddings — is one of the most sacred rituals in a Hindu wedding ceremony. When the bride and groom place garlands around each other's necks, they are symbolically accepting each other as partners for life.

In South Indian tradition, the garland is also offered to deities during the ceremony, placed on the thali, and used to decorate the mandap. Jasmine flowers are especially significant — believed to bring good luck and prosperity to the new couple. The fragrance of fresh jasmine is considered auspicious and is an essential element of any Indian temple wedding in Singapore.
