Why Bali

Why the Island of the Gods Is Perfect
for Your Indian Wedding

Bali isn't just beautiful — it's culturally aligned. As the only Hindu-majority island in Southeast Asia, it embraces the same spiritual traditions, rituals, and celebrations that make Indian weddings sacred.

🕉️
Hindu Culture & Temples
Bali is 87% Hindu — with over 20,000 temples. Fire ceremonies, puja, and sacred rituals aren't just permitted, they're part of the island's daily fabric.
✈️
2.5 Hours from Singapore
Multiple daily direct flights on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and Jetstar. Your guests land at Ngurah Rai International Airport and are at their resort within 30 minutes.
⛰️
Five Stunning Zones
Clifftops in Uluwatu, beachfront in Nusa Dua, jungle in Ubud, bay views in Jimbaran, and trendy beachside in Seminyak — every vision has a setting.
💰
Exceptional Value
World-class luxury at a fraction of European prices. A five-star Bali wedding costs 40–50% less than comparable setups in Italy or the South of France.
🌺
Floral Paradise
Frangipani, orchids, jasmine, marigolds — Bali grows the exact flowers that define Indian wedding décor. Fresh, local, and abundant year-round.
📸
Every Frame Is a Masterpiece
Dramatic cliffs, rice terraces, ancient temples, volcanic mountains, and golden sunsets — your photos and films will be extraordinary.

The Practical Guide

Everything You Need to Know Before You Plan

✈️
Flights from Singapore
2.5–3 hours direct on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and Jetstar — multiple daily flights. Guests from India connect via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur (fastest route ~9 hours). Ngurah Rai International Airport is just 10–30 minutes from most wedding venues.
🛂
Visa & Entry Requirements
Singaporeans: Visa-free, 30 days. Indians: Visa on Arrival (IDR 500K / ~SGD 45), 30 days, extendable to 60. Malaysians, Sri Lankans: Also eligible for VOA. All travellers must complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card digitally before arrival + pay the IDR 150K tourism levy.
🌦️
Best Time to Get Married
Dry season: May – October — clear skies, low humidity, perfect for outdoor ceremonies. Peak months are June–August (book early). Shoulder months (April, September) offer better rates with good weather. Avoid Nyepi (Day of Silence, March) — the entire island shuts down for 24 hours, including the airport.
🔥
Hindu Ceremonies in Bali
This is where Bali truly shines. Fire ceremonies (havan/agni) are completely natural here — Balinese Hindu temples perform them daily. Pandits, puja materials, and sacred ceremony coordination are readily available. Your rituals will be honoured with genuine cultural understanding, not just tolerance.
🍽️
Indian Catering in Bali
Bali has established Indian caterers and most 5-star hotels have Indian chefs on staff. We bring our own team or work with vetted local partners for vegetarian, Jain, North Indian, South Indian, and multi-cuisine menus. Balinese cuisine itself is naturally aligned with Indian spice profiles, making fusion menus exceptional.
💵
Budget Guidance
Indian weddings in Bali typically range from SGD 100K – SGD 300K for 100–200 guests across 3–4 days. That covers venue, accommodation, décor, food, entertainment, and coordination. Bali offers 30–40% savings versus comparable setups in Chiang Mai or Phuket, especially for clifftop and villa venues.

Why Alangkaar for Your Bali Wedding

We've been sending our photography and videography teams to Bali for pre-wedding photoshoots for years — we know the island, the vendors, and the logistics intimately. Now we bring the full Alangkaar production across: our own décor materials, mandap structures, styling elements, and an on-ground crew that's delivered over 11,200 events across 5 countries.

Unlike local Bali planners who may not fully understand the intricacies of a multi-day Indian wedding — the specific timing of a muhurtam, the logistical flow between mehendi, sangeet, ceremony, and reception, or the dietary requirements of a Jain menu — our team lives and breathes Indian celebrations. We bring that cultural fluency to Bali's world-class infrastructure.

How Bali Compares to Other Destinations

Compared to Thailand, Bali offers a deeper spiritual connection — it's genuinely Hindu, with temples, offerings, and ceremonies woven into daily life. For Indian couples, this means fire ceremonies aren't an "exception" that requires special permission — they're part of the island's soul. The floral landscape is also perfectly aligned: marigolds, jasmine, and frangipani grow locally and abundantly.

Compared to European destinations, Bali delivers comparable (often superior) luxury at 40–50% lower cost, with a flight that's 2.5 hours from Singapore versus 12+ hours to Italy. And compared to Indian domestic destinations like Udaipur or Goa, Bali offers a genuine "destination wedding" experience for guests — a holiday wrapped around a celebration — at similar or better value.

Guest Experience

A Bali wedding is a holiday for everyone who attends. Between functions, your guests can explore ancient temples, hike rice terraces, take surf lessons, get world-class spa treatments, or simply lounge by an infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean. Many couples structure the first day or two as arrival and leisure before wedding functions begin.

With direct flights from Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia — plus connecting routes from India, the Middle East, and beyond — Bali is accessible for families spread across multiple countries. The island's hospitality infrastructure is mature, English-friendly, and built for international guests.

Legal Considerations

Indonesia requires both partners to share the same religion (recognised by the state) for a legal marriage. Most Indian couples hold their legal registration in Singapore or India and treat the Bali event as the ceremonial celebration. This is the simplest and most common approach. We always recommend couples complete legal formalities at home before travelling.
